Jean-Philippe Rio-Py, known worldwide as RIOPY, has never seen music as a career, but as a vital means of survival. With over one billion streams and after topping the Billboard Classical charts, this pianist, composer and multi-instrumentalist arrives at Guitar Bcn with a story that goes far beyond the numbers.

Born into an isolated community in rural France in the 1980s, RIOPY taught himself to play on an abandoned piano, finding in improvisation his only escape. After leaving home at 18 and building a new life from scratch in London—where Coldplay’s Chris Martin famously recognized his talent by giving him his first piano—his minimalist, cinematic music has gone on to feature in Oscar-winning film soundtracks and collaborations with artists such as Lana Del Rey.

At Paral·lel 62, he will present his fifth album, “Be Love”. Marking a deeply personal milestone, the record was created after RIOPY overcame a serious illness and features his voice for the first time, offering a sonic experience rooted in peace and empathy. More than a concert, his performance is an invitation to connect with the heart and discover the healing power of sound.
