Guitar BCN 2025: Madeleine Peyroux

Madeleine Peyroux, one of the great ladies of current jazz, will arrive at the Paral·lel 62 room on January 30, within the framework of the Guitar Bcn 2025 festival.

Born in Athens (Georgia), a university and bohemian city, also home of R.E.M. , the artist grew up listening to the sounds of New Orleans and sought a life as a teenager in the Latin neighborhood of Paris.

With such credentials, it was almost inevitable that Madeleine Peyroux would direct her steps towards the practice of jazz, but what was not so predictable was that she would do so by so successfully emulating the precepts of Billie Holiday (whom is so compared for her voice) and Bessie Smith, Patsy Cline or Édith Piaf.

The American singer, guitarist and composer deploys her arguments with the integrity of the classics, and has a brilliant discography that combines originals and covers.
