Ombligo

Playful and festive, youthful, brimming with energy. That’s how the music of OMBLIGO could be defined—a musical project driven by Madrid natives Anika and Ángel Cáceres that seems to dive headfirst into the gypsy universe of the Balkans. Fusion is intrinsic to the work of this virtuosic duo: Balkan folklore blends with bolero and swing, alongside touches of contemporary jazz. All of this allows the listener to embark on a journey around the world through their songs.

It’s an emotional and sensory voyage, but also, in a way, a physical one, thanks to their violin and guitar—key elements in a personal universe that, in live performances, expands with the addition of double bass, cello, flute, washboard, and percussion. Influenced by artists such as King Crimson, Renato Carosone, and classical music, their progressive-leaning sound knows no bounds and conveys an exuberant joy that feels more necessary than ever in these uncertain times.
