Univers Paral·lel: VVV [Trippin’you] + Las Eras + SDH
The next Univers Paral·lel can be heard long before you even step into the venue: beneath the stark white light of a car park or on the last train home, moving between the buildings of an endless periphery. In this landscape, at once familiar and displaced, the pulse of an electronic sound stripped of any polish begins to emerge. Cold synthesizers, basslines that hit straight in the chest, dark club rhythms, punk rawness and echoes of 1990s raves come into focus. Music born to be danced to on the asphalt, but also to channel disillusionment, anger and that strange form of freedom that only appears when everything around us seems about to fall apart.
This Univers Paral·lel can be heard from Móstoles, where VVV [Trippin’you] have spent the past decade giving sound to the muted violence of a generation. Mákina, jungle, dubstep and UK garage intersect with pop melodies and nihilistic lyrics shaped by precarity, desire, nightlife and urban hopelessness. Released in 2021, Turboviolencia marked a turning point in their career: a key record capable of capturing the urgency of its time and transforming generational unease into a collective, physical and danceable experience. They now present MECHARADIO, a new chapter in which their universe expands into more cinematic, visual and sensory territory.
Las Eras arrive from Buenos Aires with the industrial grey of the city’s outskirts embedded in their songs. Their electronic post-punk moves through heavy basslines, insistent beats, hypnotic synthesizers and voices wrapped in delay. Their music looks back admiringly to the 1980s, while also carrying a distinctly contemporary impulse: the need to find movement, pleasure and beauty amid the greyness, where dancing opens up cracks in a landscape seemingly condemned to repeat itself.
Completing the night are SDH, the project of Andrea P. Latorre and Sergi Algiz, central figures in Barcelona’s electronic underground and founders of the Cønjuntø Vacíø label. Moving between synth-pop, EBM and techno, SDH understand music as a process of alteration, distortion and metamorphosis. Their songs begin with recognisable forms, only to deform, stretch and transform them into something else: bodies, identities and emotions in a constant state of change, caught in nocturnal moments where anything is possible.
VVV [Trippin’you], Las Eras and SDH share the same emotional geography: harsh cities, nights that stretch on endlessly and dancefloors understood as spaces of escape and resistance.
